As a co-Designer and co-Contractor, in the firm of noble SAVAGE Design/Build ...
Unlike projects that followed, there was no client at the time and they had total design freedom. There was risk involved in designing and building on a steep hillside which was considered at the time to be too difficult in this area and no one else had attempted to do so. The home was an immediate success and we come to find that the original purchaser still happily lives there.
Upon contact with the Owner, Suzanne was graciously invited to the home. Although some changes have been made to the exterior, the interior remains much as it was upon design. Suzanne and the Owner exchanged information. Suzanne explained design concepts and elements and the Owner shared her experiences in living there as we were given the tour. Upon digesting the tour, Suzanne realized that although she had free reign in the original design having no client, that the design concepts employed in the home remained with her in future projects where the client came first - which adds to the significance of inclusion in our gallery.
As an observer on the tour with no involvement on the project, I was fascinated that there is almost no space you can enter that not only has privacy but the most amazing panoramic views overlooking the hills. The owner tells us that a favorite activity of guests is to climb the spiral staircase to the tower roof deck after dark or at sunset. We have also discovered that the views from the Master bedroom are exceptional and one photo is included here. Once a client or once a colleague, you become a friend for life with us. This current photo shoot is almost completed and most current photos posted. We have discovered and isolated 3 elements that could better fit the lifestyle of the owner. We will be active in designing these alterations to fit the client and conferring and making recommendations to them in order to provide options to a perfect fit for their current lifestyle with no expectations of them to follow though.
