Old West Austin
I had the honor of contracting this lovely 2.5 story house in the Old West Austin neighborhood. Despite the 4-car garage with workshop, office and gracious upstairs interiors, the Client successfully nestled the home into the site in respect to the existing scale of the neighborhood.
The Owner provided a complete set of plans which could be immediately permitted. The Client made all the right decisions in his material selection which exemplifies the manner in which an early 20th century period-style home would have been built. Ladder doors, stained oak trim, redwood articulated ceilings above exterior porches, paneled dining, full butler's pantry and, not to mention, the stained inlay beaded cabinetry and 3-story oak staircase with newel posts. The lower level, which includes both the office, workshop and garage, were finished out for efficiency, as the budget was absorbed in the exquisitely-finished upstairs living areas. City of Austin code mandated the exterior staircase railings which have yet to be designed, yet sufficed for our Certificate of Occupancy.
